FAQ

What is a stock perp?

A stock perpetual future (stock perp) is a crypto-margined contract that tracks a stock price with no expiry. Longs and shorts exchange funding so the perp stays near the stock. Hyperliquid trade.xyz (HIP-3), Aster and Lighter list stock perps that trade 24/7, including weekends.

What is the difference between a stock perp and a tokenized stock?

A tokenized stock (Backed xStocks on Solana, Ondo Global Markets tokens on Ethereum, BNB Chain and Solana) is a token backed by real shares, so holding it is like holding the stock. A stock perp is a derivative with leverage and funding payments and no share backing.

Which venues trade TSLA, NVDA or AAPL perps?

Use the free GET /catalog?ticker=TSLA&group=1 call, or open /stock-perps/TSLA. Most large US names are listed on trade.xyz, Aster and Lighter, and have an xStock and an Ondo token.

Why do stock perps trade at a gap to the stock on weekends?

Stock exchanges are closed but perps keep trading, so the perp price moves on news while the reference price is frozen at the last close or after-hours print. GET /quote shows which reference was used and how stale it is.

How is funding annualized?

Each venue's rate is converted to an hourly rate (trade.xyz and Lighter pay hourly, Aster usually every 8 hours) and multiplied by 8,760 hours. Positive means longs pay shorts. GET /funding returns every venue side by side with the next funding time.

How do AI agents pay?

With x402: call the endpoint, get HTTP 402 with payment requirements, pay in USDC on Base or Solana with any x402 client, and retry. No account or API key. The catalog is free; quote costs $0.01 and funding $0.02.
